There’s been a farm on the site at Womenswold since 1870 and the Loder-Symons family have farmed there for more than 100 years. The current generation of the family have more than 30 years specialist experience of growing malting barley for the country’s leading maltsters..
The land is predominantly south-facing, chalky loam with an average annual rainfall of 925mm – ideal for malting barley. The farm also enjoys the benefits of sophisticated drying and cleaning facilities.
Roddy Loder-Symons is actively pursuing environmentally sensitive initiatives such as countryside stewardship and integrated crop management and is at the forefront of crop technology with an ongoing programme of research into new advances.
